What it is

HyperFrames is an open source tool from HeyGen. You give the instructions and Claude Code does the edit: cuts, motion graphics, captions and sound effects, then it renders the video.

Lots of people edit video with Claude now, with nice motion graphics. But nobody explains how to set it up. This is how I do it, in 5 steps.

How to start

  1. Get the Claude Pro plan. It is USD20 on the website, or RM99 if you buy it in the app.
  2. Open Claude desktop. Top left you will see Chat and Code. Pick Code, it is the one that is good at editing.
  3. In Code, under the chat box pick Local, then pick a folder. Make a folder called Claude Video with 3 subfolders: projects (all raw videos), reference (example videos, b-roll), end project (where Claude puts the finished video).
  4. Install the tools first, once only. I use Opus 5.5 on high effort. Ask Claude Code to check Node.js 22+, Python 3, Git and FFmpeg, then install HyperFrames, Video-Use, yt-dlp and ElevenLabs for transcription. Tell it to ask you before installing Remotion or asking for an API key.
  5. Put your footage in the projects folder, then give it this prompt: "Edit this video with HyperFrames. Transcribe it first so you know where to put animation, motion graphics and sound effects. Don't cover my face with animation. Follow the TikTok and IG safe zones. Add background music but make sure my voice isn't drowned out. Cut repeated lines and awkward pauses, find the strongest hook. Show me a preview before you render."
  6. Wait about 20-30 minutes and the video is done. Check the preview first, then render.

Common questions

How many videos can one Claude Pro plan make?

Claude Pro resets every 5 hours. In my tests, one 5-hour window is enough for 2-3 videos. My weekly quota ran out right on day 6.

Do I need to write a script before editing?

If you talk in the video, no. Claude can transcribe it. If it is faceless, give it a script.

Why doesn't the edit look good?

Don't write "make it nice". It doesn't know what nice means to you. Give instructions like: "cut the parts I repeat twice, trim pauses longer than 1 second, add big text every time I change topic". Then it gets it.
